To all those concerned about our environment, our world, our climate and our future: We call on you to share your concern, your opinion, your piece that highlights the environmental issues we face and the measures we can take to combat them. This is a platform where all of us that care about climate action and preserving nature can come together. This is where we can make our voices one and lobby for a sustainable future.
We are one with nature and its elements. We can only survive if we compliment it and live within it. Going against nature and damaging it will only lead to our demise: nature will survive, albeit maybe in a different form.
So, we ask you to please share your piece with us at media@theenvironmental.org and we will share it here to get the word out to the world.
We are honored to have been selected by Artists for Flood Relief Karachi as one of the organizations involved in flood relief work that they would like to support. We are proud that the artists are highlighting and appreciating our efforts globally. Plus, this fund raising effort also promotes cultural exchange.
Below is a brief outline of the project:
Artists for Flood Relief Karachi is a fundraiser initiated by three artists’ friends who felt the need to use art as an aid in response to the severe aftermath of the record-breaking monsoon rains in Karachi. The organizer’s Shaheen Jaffrani (artist, curator, and designer), Shah Numair Ahmed Abbasi (artist and writer), and Shanzay Subzwari (artist and writer) graduated together in 2014 from the Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture and have now reconvened for this cause. Another team member is their artist friend, Sarah Kazmi who is handling international correspondence with buyers from overseas.
AfFRK is an online exhibition that features artworks generously donated by over 160 artists and counting. Local, as well as international buyers, can purchase prints of the exhibited works which will be printed and shipped by team AfFRK. The team has also received original artworks as donations for which they intend to hold a silent auction towards the end of their fundraiser. The duration of the fundraiser is one month and will terminate on October 1, 2020 (Subject to change). The campaign has been very inclusive as the team has accepted donations from formally taught artists, self-taught artists, art students, illustrators, designers, architects, photographers, diaspora, and non-Pakistani artists living abroad.
All funds that are generated through this campaign will go towards the partnered organizations providing relief to the afflicted. The three partnered organizations are Food for Thought, The Environmental, and Smile Sunshine that is run by either the organizer’s friends or colleagues who they have previously worked with. AfFRK has also partnered with FujiFilm to ensure excellent, professional-quality archival printing that is resistant to degradation.
